Decision-making in research and development collaboration
Article Abstract:
Survey data on three selected United Kingdom industrial sectors negated the assumptions that research collaborations are aimed at undertaking near-market research and that such collaborative efforts are decided at corporate headquarters. It was found that research and development collaborations are competition-related and are decided over by multi-site corporations. Further, it was established that joint research activities can be decentralized for internationalization purposes.
