Democracy to come
Article Abstract:
The 'to-come' character is intrinsic to the idea of democracy, the implication that there can be no final state of democracy, no end to its history since openness to the event and to becoming are aspects of the openness to alterity, that is, an ethic of hospitality that underlies democracy. It is suggested that for 'democracy to come' to continue to have a chance in the present and in the future, there needs to be an exposition of a right to reject this cosmopolitan hospitality.

An interview with Michael Walzer
Article Abstract:
Michael Walzer, a political philosopher, feels a minimalist view of universal morality has been at the center of most of his writing. Walzer frequently mentions variations on the concept of community but is uncertain whether the US will eventually become a stable pluralist community. Members of a society cannot choose where to be born, but one way to measure autonomy is to analyze the barriers when individuals choose to leave.

Interview with Michael Hardt

Michael Hardt, co-author, with Antonio Negri, of Empire and Multitude gives his views regarding the impact of the World Social Forum (WSF) since its inception.
