Determination of earnings in Yugoslav firms: can it be squared with labor management?
Article Abstract:
The labor management system in Yugoslavia when combined with the distribution of workers earnings did not work. The idea of the government was to set earnings so that wages could be 'evened out' among different firms. The result was that successful companies were not able to offer higher salaries and less successful firms benefited from the distribution of earnings causing inefficiencies, lack of motivation and the lack of entrepreneurship. Although the theory of labor management did not work in Yugoslavia, in reality since the workers 'had no autonomy in determining their wages,' this can not be seen as a true case of labor management.

International patterns in military spending
Article Abstract:
Military spending for some 137 countries using data in 1984 was looked at to determine if countries of higher gross national products spend disproportionately more on defense. Variables that would affect spending in different countries included whether the country is receiving economic or military aid, whether there exists internal or external conflicts in which the country is involved, whether the country is part of an alliance and if there is a military regime in power.
