A comparison of occupational values between capitalist Hong Kong and socialist Guangzhou
Article Abstract:
A comparison of occupational values is made between Hong Kong, which successfully followed the capitalist route to rapid economic development and became a financial center in the 1980s, and Guangzhou, which shared the same resources and culture, but had little international exposure. Since 1978, Guangzhou has become one of the fastest-growing ports because of China's open-door policy for economic reform.

Preindustrial and Postwar Economic Development: Is There a Link?(*)
Article Abstract:
Variation in the performance of developing nations can be explained by their positions relative to modernization prior to their shift to industrialization. Nations that have already demonstrated a move towards modern economic development require a less drastic transformation than those who have not yet implemented such changes. This correlation had not been examined in previous literature.
