Factors influencing middle and high schools' active parental consent return rates

Article Abstract:

The factors influencing the return rates for attempting to collect active parental consent forms from 21,123 students in the seventh through 10th grades in 41 middle and high schools are examined. Schools that offered high levels of staff support for collecting consent forms had higher return rates.

Do participation rates change when active consent procedures replace passive consent

This article examines informed consent in research and how it affects participation outcomes. The authors, analyzing active and passive parental consent regarding a case study involving teenagers, maintain active parental consent can yield high participation rates.
