The effect of income on child development
Article Abstract:
The impact of parental income on children's cognitive, social and emotional development has been investigated using mother-child data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth. Results indicate that parental income has negligible effects on child development which negates the viability of income transfers for improving the development of children from low-income families. Family background and other child characteristics have more importance in the development of children.
