HIV/AIDS education including condom availability in New York City public schools
Article Abstract:
New York City's HIV/AIDS education program is considered to be one of the most comprehensive in the country. Prior to the program's implementation, public debates were held and different sectors were able to voice their opinions. The program includes the development of an AIDS curriculum from Kinder to 12th grade, the organization of education teams, and the availability of condoms to high school students. In spite of continuous opposition from some parties, the city remains steadfast in its commitment to the prevention of AIDS through education.

AIDS and older people: two educational models
Article Abstract:
Two different methods of educating older adults about AIDS are presented: individual counseling and community education. Elder/Family Services, a mental health management agency in Brooklyn, NY provides an example of the first method. Programs offered by Senior Action in a Gay Environment in New York provide an example of the second method. Health care workers need to respect the cultural and religious beliefs of the older people involved in AIDS education programs.

Non-consensual sexual experience & HIV education: an educators view
Article Abstract:
HIV education should attend to the gap between the objectives of preventive education and the capabilities of non-consensual sex victims. HIV exposure enhancing factors in abuse survivors include lack of sexual boundaries, alcohol/drug use, and low self esteem. HIV education should recognize that victims indulge in protective behavior patterns thereby exposing themselves to greater risk of HIV infection.
