INPPARES uses Internet to provide Peruvians with sexuality information and counseling
Article Abstract:
The Peruvian Institute for Responsible Parenthood (INPPARES) has found that providing sexuality information and counseling over the Internet enables it to reach people who are otherwise constrained by time and location. Internet counseling also offers an alternative medium that protects anonymity. INPPARES receives questions on sexual violence, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, human immunodeficiency virus, sexual problems, sexual and reproductive health, and pregnancy. The questions are channeled to appropriate staff and replies are sent back within one to two days.

Getting started on the Net
Article Abstract:
Sex educators can take a number of steps to gain access to the Internet. The first step is to obtain the necessary equipment, namely, a computer, modem and telephone followed by the selection of an Internet Service Provider such as CompuServe and America Online. A Web browser software is needed to navigate through Web sites while a web search engine allows users to search for information by typing key words.
