Reproductive health is in your hands: the national media campaign in Bolivia
Article Abstract:
A media campaign launched by the National Reproductive Health Program in early 1990s in Bolivian radio and television generated a positive attitude towards reproductive health among the lower and middle class people. The campaign theme, Reproductive Health Is in Your Hands, helped men and women between 18 and 35 to increase their knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and family planning methods. It also encouraged communication between partners in making decisions about family planning as reproductive health was related to the entire family's health.

Sexuality and the mass media: an overview
Article Abstract:
All types of mass media, from prime time television to music and music videos, magazines, advertising and the news media, provide information on sexual behavior that affects the public perception of sexuality. The media outlets rarely promote medically accurate and health-promoting messages. Health advocates propose public information campaigns, media advocacy, and 'edutainment' to promote healthy sexual behavior through mass media. Future research must look into new forms of communication and program-specific audiences in a interdisciplinary manner.

Media recommendations for more realistic, accurate images concerning sexuality
Article Abstract:
The National Coalition to Support Sexuality Education recommends that mass media use its influence to convey medically correct and health-promoting messages regarding sexuality to adolescent viewers. Media should promote sexually healthy behavior through effective communication regarding sexuality and the relationship between children and parents. A realistic portrayal of the consequences of unprotected sex, and elimination of prejudices and stereotypes about sexuality are necessary to develop healthy sexual behavior among young people.
