A classical question in sociology is reconsidered by using new tools provided by recent philosophy of mind, philosophy of social sciences, history of sciences and even theory of literature. It has implication in the history and the sociology of science as well as in the history and sociology of philosophy.

A note on Nick Zangwill's "against the sociology of art"
Article Abstract:
A provocative and compelling account of the alleged deficiencies of the sociology of art is presented. A less 'enchanted' approach to artists' practices is required to stress both artists' role in the public sphere and also their specific interests in the artistic field.
