Individualism-collectivism as an individual difference predictor of organizational citizenship behavior
Article Abstract:
Organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) are discretionary, on-the-job behaviors that enhance organizational effectiveness. A good example of an OCB would be voluntarily helping co-workers without receiving any rewards from the organization. Using data from a survey of 185 employees of a financial services company, it is demonstrated that OCBs can be predicted by the level of collectivist values held by individuals in an organization.
