Intentionality, pluralism, and redescription
Article Abstract:
A claim is disputed that the subject matter of social science properly consists of intentional actions and an example drawn from social psychology is explored which shows that some social scientific phenomena cannot be explained unless they are redescribed in nonintentional language. The idea of a satisfactory explanation of human action can be achieved without redescribing these intentions within the context of the multitude of extramental factors that cause them.

Individualism and holism, reduction and pluralism: A comment on Keith Sawyer and Julie Zahle
Article Abstract:
The way in which the debate between methodological individualists and holists is questioned is presented and contends that too much weight is given to metaphysical and ontological debates at the expense of giving attention to methodological debates and analysis of good explanatory practice. These lead to real progress in the debate on methodological individualism and away from the unending battles of intuitions.
