Labor market and socioeconomic effects on marital stability
Article Abstract:
The marital stability of young adults is directly related to their average educational levels and work experiences. Individual differences in educational levels and salary levels do not have any impact on the stability of the marriage. Results of the National Longitudinal Surveys of Young Men, Young Women, and Youth reveals that chances of disruption increase when wives work more than their husbands, there are improvements in the socio-economic status of the wives, and the labor force characteristic for the wives change for the positive.
