Lincoln's personal retreat from the burdens of war
Article Abstract:
Abraham Lincoln, as President, lived in a small cottage on the grounds of the Soldiers' Home in Washington D.C., where he was able to find solace and time to reflect and to formulate the important decisions that shaped the war and its aftermath.
