Pay reference standards and pay satisfaction: what do workers evaluate their pay against?
Article Abstract:
The impact of factors like the past pay of the worker, the pay level of the organization, occupation and national labor market in Sweden on workers' pay satisfaction is examined. Studies indicate that the Swedish workers' satisfaction stems more from general comparisons, relating to others in their occupation, and to others in the national labor market, rather than comparisons with co-workers and the individual's own past pay.

The social construction of commitment and satisfaction with farm and nonfarm work
Article Abstract:
An examination of a male part-time farmer's satisfaction with, and commitment to farm and nonfarm work shows that this is influenced by the intrinsic rewarding qualities of both farm and nonfarm work. This relationship is enhanced as the status of the part-time farmers's nonfarm job rises. Commitment to farming is moderated and commitment to nonfarm job is enhanced by spousal involvement, and the farmer's age and education.

Socioeconomic change and occupational location for successive cohorts of American male and female workers
Article Abstract:
A significant within- and between-cohort change is observed in male and female workers in the context of socioeconomic change and occupational distribuion. Data from 1973-1991 Current Population Surveys indicates that this change is greater amongst women in skill-based occupations. In terms of education upgrading and industrial restructuring the changes are greater amongst women than in men.
