Pen, print, and pentium
Article Abstract:
Communication innovations, from the invention of the printing press to computers, brought about both adverse and positive effects in the society. The influence of power over knowledge and the control of communication made these innovations deviate from their original objective of making old tasks easier to perform. For Dominican Filipo di Sirata and Birkets, the invention of the printing press and computers gave way to the corruption of minds, texts and knowledge. For some, the print and pentium did not only introduce democracy but paved the way to universal education as well.
