Policy interactions between the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries and Latin America in the 1980s
Article Abstract:
A regional transmission model sheds light on the effects of macroeconomic shocks from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on Latin America. Using this system as hooked up to the London Business School's global econometric model, the Latin American implications of a US fiscal expansion and concurrent monetary contraction are examined. The findings suggest that adjustment problems in the region during the 1980s were not due to fiscal imbalances in the US, Japan or Germany, nor to poor policy coordination among the G-7 countries.

Equity control of multinational firms by less developed countries: a general equilibrium analysis
Article Abstract:
The effects of local equity requirements on multinational corporations' employment and capital investments are analyzed. A general equilibrium model of a dual production economy consisting of local and multinational firms explores labor-capital employment. Equity regulations channel capital from local to foreign firms and increase interest rates thus resulting in capital flight. Policymakers are therefore urged to study these regulations carefully.
