Predictors of willingness to relocate for managerial and professional employees
Article Abstract:
A survey was conducted to determine the factors that would motivate managerial and professional employees to relocate on the basis of company demands. The main motivations were career enhancement or company needs and the need to remain employed. Other factors such as family and community had significant effects on these two motivations. These results have several implications for companies which usually practice relocations. These include the need to provide extra assistance and services to relocated employees and to consider factors such as age, gender and family status in relocating.

The relationship of race and gender to managers' ratings of promotion potential
Article Abstract:
A survey of the predetermined promotion potentiality of 1,268 managerial and professional employees from a Fortune 500 multinational company showed that race and gender discrimination affect the the promotion of females. Although results disclose that such specific factors as education, age, salary grade have some affect on promotionability, bias related to race and gender was a strong influence. Nicholson's proposed theory of work-role transitions. Nicholson, in 1984, postulated that self-esteem had a great influence on adjustment strategies.
