Press rights, human rights, and cryptocracy

Article Abstract:

The author discusses important federal cases involving the right of the press to obtain information from the government about criminal prosecutions. Conflicts between the press and the movement involving prior restraint based on unfair or falsely-based criticism of a court or parties to a trial are also discussed.

The Reporters Committee: a special human rights hero

The contributions of the staff and attorneys of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to the protection of the rights and interests of journalists since 1970 are discussed. The organization's central role in federal press freedom cases during that time is praised.
