Pricing transport networks with fixed residential location

Article Abstract:

Rules for optimal link tolls and parking charges, for a general static transport network used by households whose residential location is fixed are presented. It is found that when optimal individualized lump sum transfers are not available the optimal link tolls are influenced by the Miracles paradox, a concept referring to the tendency of the optimal tax-structure to favor households with relatively high marginal utilities of income.

Hotelling in the air? Flight departures in Norway

Article Abstract:

A study of the effects of deregulation on Norwegian airline industry is presented. It is observed that after deregulation, there was a tendency to club the flights on duopoly routes rather than on monopolistic routes. The study also analyzes the extent of variation in departure-time by using a waiting cost index. The study was conducted primarily to analyze the effects of locating a firm close to its rivals.
