R&D strategy in a techno-economic network: Alzheimer's disease therapeutic strategies

Article Abstract:

Co-citation analysis and patent co-word analysis are scientometric tools used to evaluate R&D strategies in Alzheimer's disease (AD) therapy. Results indicate that academic and industry researchers utilize information generated by the AD techno-economic network in constructing a sharper image of neurodegenerative disease, trace the cause of the disease and develop efficient multidrug treatment. Firms using a techno-economic network particular design configuration are likely to use the same R&D strategy for a long time.

Determinants of repayment performance in credit groups: the role of program design, intragroup risk pooling and social cohesion

Article Abstract:

A 1992 study of lending programs in Madagascar reveals that joint-liability loans with the best prospects of being repaid are those made to groups with high factors of social cohesion and low-risk assets. Programs that lend to groups rather than to single borrowers have been popular in developing countries since the 1970s. The theory behind group lending programs is that banks can more easily monitor a single contract with a group of joint borrowers than many contracts with single borrowers.
