Science-technology flows in Spanish regions: an analysis of scientific citations in patents
Article Abstract:
Several autonomous regions in Spain have adopted regional research and development plans and have organized their efforts in science and technology. Relationship between science and technological development in various regions of Spain is investigated using a methodology based on an analysis of scientific citations in patent documents.

How do firms knowledge bases affect intra-industry hetrogeneity? An analysis of the Spanish pharmaceutical industry
Article Abstract:
The firm variety within and industry is studied. The extend to which higher performance is associated with the capacity of firms to expand the knowledge base and the heterogeneity of the different companies of same industry are analyzed. A case study of Spanish pharmaceutical industry is presented.

Policy learning in Swiss research policy-the case of the National centres of Competence in Research
Article Abstract:
The 'rationality' of learning processes in Swiss research policies is assessed. An example of the setting-up of the 'National Centres of Competence in Research' (NCCR) in Switzerland is provided and the process that has contributed to the acceptance of this funding measure is analyzed.
