Mellon Capital has no fear of Japan

Article Abstract:

Mellon Capital Management Corp. of San Francisco, CA, will overweigh Japan in its global tactical asset allocation portfolio. The company manages about $70 billion in assets. According to the company's chairman and CEO Thomas Loeb, Japanese stock account for about 20% of the company's global portfolio. Loeb said that the company is holding an overweighted exposure in Japan because they think that prices are discounted so much relative to reasonable earnings expectations of the Japanese companies.

Skin aesthetics

Article Abstract:

A study explores how, particularly for westernized women, skin might be a site onto which dualities such as submission and resistance, excess and control are played out in relation to ideals of slimness and youth. It examines how skin, far from being a neutral point of transition between inner and outer body, is the site of cultural, political and personal control, agency and contestation for these women.
