Spatial job search and commuting distances
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine spatial job search and commuting distances using an empirical model that allows for heterogeneous jobs. The model can be expanded to incorporate the impact of housing market search induced by acceptance of a job. Findings suggest that workers are on average willing to accept an hourly wage rate that is 0.12 Dutch guilder lower to avoid one additional kilometer of commuting. Results deepen the insights into the explanatory factors of commuting behavior and the functioning of spatial labor markets.

Tests for spatial lag dependence based on method of moments estimation
Article Abstract:
The GMM counterparts of the well known Wald, Lagrange multiplier and Likelihood ratio are formulated to test the null hypothesis of non-spatial lag dependence in a spatial lag model with a spatial autoregressive disturbance term. Indications from the Monte Carlo are mentioned.
