Spotlight on NARA: Archivist announces results of the people's vote
Article Abstract:
An estimated 40,000 Americans all across the country cast more than 3,00,000 votes from September 17, 2003 through December 1, 2003, for those documents that had influenced the American history the most. The main goal of The People's Vote was to make Americans more aware of some of the records that influenced American history and defined the people, and increase their interest in all the records held by the National Archives.

AAD: a new tool to search NARA databases
Article Abstract:
Access to Archival Databases (AAD) is the first publicly accessible application development under the auspices of NARA's Electronic Records Archives (ERA) program. The overall ERA program is charged with developing a way to preserve the electronic government records, which are being created at an explosive pace and to make them accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Issues concerning the redesign of the Web site of the National Archives and Records Administration, at www.archives.gov, are examined. Topics include information available on the Web site, such as images of the Declaration of Independence and important historical photographs; and new features such as an alphabetical index and directions to most popular pages.
