Sustainable consumption and production of plastics?
Article Abstract:
Insights into the research conducted by the National Environmental Conference of the Netherlands on the practical considerations in the consumption and production of plastics is presented. Advances in plastics research have the potential of decreasing the use of nondegradable plastics in consumer products, and may soon become a reality once cost-effective production of degradable plastics are realized. Some of the novel recommendations in the sustainable consumption and production of plastics include the development of the dispenser systems for groceries, the institution of the back-to-feedstock processes in the chemical industry and the use of environmental metrics in the evaluation of a plastics potential in the market.
