Teaching high school students about sexual assault: content and methodology
Article Abstract:
The need to discuss the issue of sexual assault in sex education classes is becoming more urgent as the number of teenagers forced to have sex rises along with the number of young men who are coming to believe that force is sometimes acceptable. Lessons on sexual assault should have clear and realistic goals, should be taught in an environment that empowers students and should emphasize 'gender role expectations.' Tips to help teachers meet the goals of sexual assault education are offered.
