Technical change and incorporated R&D in the service sector
Article Abstract:
No clear pattern of convergence in total technology intensity except in the area of communication services was noted among eight member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Japan, the US and Germany's service sectors were observed to be larger technology users than other OECD member countries. The degree of specialization in technologically intensive service activities also tends to be higher in some nations than in others. International diffusion of a new tool: the case of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in the retailing sector
Article Abstract:
An accelerated diffusion of Electronic Data Interchange was noted in the retailing sector of various European nations. During mid-1980s and early 1990, an accelerated diffusion of EDI was observed due mainly to the remarkable accumulation of technological change in the region. On the other hand, the occurrence of lag in the adoption of EDI in the region can be attributed to several factors, such as the compatibility between national standard and the international EANCOM standard.
