Article Abstract:

A paper on organizations attitude towards changing retirement compensation by replacing defined benefit plans with defined contribution plans and the implications of this attitude is discussed. Suggestions as proposed by the psychological contract theory that this shift will exacerbate the trend towards transactional employment while expectancy theory posits enhanced motivational outcomes are presented.
