The influence of development perspectives on the choice of technology
Article Abstract:
A state's decision on the type of technology to adopt or use involves the formulation of a priority ranking mechanism where alternative technologies are measured against a set of criteria. From a growth-oriented viewpoint, the choice is linked to regional self-dependent development and market development. This concept is discussed in the context of a practical application which is toilet soap making. Five technology alternatives are ranked according to a procedure called Analytic Hierarchy Process.

Technology assessment in the U.S. state legislatures
Article Abstract:
Much of the technology assessment conducted by government is likely to occur at the state level in legislative bodies and their analytical branches as a result of the abolition of the US Office of Technology Assessment. State legislatures conducted little technology assessment in the period immediately following World War II, but that activity increased greatly as of the 1970s.
