The role of funding agencies in the cognitive development of science
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the influence of politics and funding agencies in the cognitive evolution of science. Research policies of funding agencies were correlated with their structure, interests and norms of interaction. Various perspectives on understanding policy-making within funding agencies were then considered. Results indicated inefficiencies on the cognitive development of science generated by cronyism and the transformation of external interests.
