Theories, data, and potential impacts of mobile communications: a longitudinal analysis of U.S. national surveys
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of the demographic aspects of mobile telecommunications adoption in the US reveals that key determinants in ownership include income, ethnicity, need and mobility. The study also reveals key differences in the pager only group, the cellular phone only group and the cellular telephone-pager group. Ownership of cellular telephones remains associated with the affluent.
