Theory and Practice of Integrated Impact Assessment
Article Abstract:
Recommended by an interagency task force, the Integrated Assesment Program was created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Western Energy Technology Assessment (TA) is a result of that program. Ballard and Hall discuss the various components of this TA, from the purpose of the study to its ultimate use. The need of an interdisciplinary research team is evident from the social, environmental, and legal aspects of the TA. Ballard and Hall stress the importance of interdisciplinary team work and sharing of information with interested parties in the form of advisory committees. They go on to suggest that outside involvement be used in the drafting stage of the assessment and that the study be presented to interested parties such as community, government and business, as soon as possible.

Interdisciplinary research organization: science technology engineering matching programs (STEMPS)
Article Abstract:
Basic reseach and applied and developmental research are the two categories into which research can be divided for the support on the technology and science upon which rests industrial technology and the economy. The social contribution basis is needed to support the quick and efficient results upon which development lies. The system which returns profits to researcher is known as Science Technology Engineering Matching Programs or STEMPS.

Interdisciplinary Problems in Doing Impact Assessment
Article Abstract:
Using Lake Shelbyville reservoir, Burdge and Opryszek outline the problems associated with an interdisciplinary study. Problems include funding, faculty incapable of working with other disciplines, incompatibility of data and divergence of the data base. Burdge and Opryszek suggest improvements in these areas. Clearly defining the role of graduate students and having a strong principal investigator are two of their recommendations.
