The unended quest for legitimacy in science
Article Abstract:
Legitimation remains an open question even if no scientist complains and the host society remains appeased. The enactment of affirmative action legislation to widen the access of women and minorities to academic institutions is regarded as the best example of a "legitimation crisis".

Explanatory exclusion in history and social science
Article Abstract:
Judgments of explanatory exclusion are essential to any historian or social scientist, especially in assessing incompatible explanations. Thus, an ontic theory of explanation is necessary to make sense of this type of exclusion.
