Unicity of the equilibrium in the unconstrained Hotelling model
Article Abstract:
A study reveals that price leadership is favored inspite of strategic price complementarity that exists in the market. The study was limited to a framework of spatial market competition, which ensures that an equilibrium in prices is present in pure strategies. Endogenous product differentiation, whose nature can be influenced by a series of decisions, was also emphasized as relevant in changing prior literature's conclusions.
