Affective expectations and information gain: evidence for assimilation and contrast effects in affective experience
Article Abstract:
The utilization/behavior perception paradigm was used to test the assimilation and contrast predictions of the Affective Expectation Model. Findings showed that affective expectations can result to both assimilation and contrast effects in affective experience. It was also found that there are several factors to consider in determining when assimilation versus contrast effects will emerge in everyday life situations. These include the likelihood of an individual to engage in the perceptual strategy of gross versus fine utilization and the strength of a prior expectation.

The closing of a social HMO: a case study
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the closing of Group Health Inc, one of the four sites in the original Social Health Maintenance Organization (SHMO) National Demonstration Project that began in 1985 in Saint Paul, MN. The post-SHMO transition and the process of replacing care coordination and long-term care services provided by Group Health were analyzed. Results suggested that the health care system of the elderly became less stable after the closing of the HMO.
