'Backfire': a review and extension

Article Abstract:

Bob Zelnick's 'Backfire' condemns the policies of race and sex preferences in the US. Zelnick asserts that efforts to prevent discrimination against US minorities have led to discrimination against other social collectivities. The decision to ban all discriminatory employment procedures against blacks has led to the induction of less competent employers in offices. Zilnick opines that the lower ability of blacks as compared to whites is proved by the academic achievements of black students. Official policies have failed to target the black minorities who form only 49% of the minority beneficiaries.

The future emphasis will be on setting up of a nationally integrated interbank market and the liberalization of the interest rates and exchange system.
