Ethnic and gender differences in parental expectations and life stress
Article Abstract:
Reported experiences of stressful life events show ethnic and gender differences among Cambodian, Hmong and Vietnamese adolescents. While Cambodians rate their parents' strict discipline over their social lives as the most stressful factor, Hmong and Vietnamese adolescents rate household chores and academic pressure as stress-causing factors. While females say the pressure to get good grades is perceived as most stressful, males perceive post-graduate anxietiesabout jobs or where to live as the most stressful events.

The workers' view: strategies and coping skills in a family preservation program
Article Abstract:
The increasing attention being paid to family preservation services prompted a study to analyze the family preservation model from workers' viewpoints involved in a pilot program using the model. Workers described several coping strategies, such as cognitive mechanisms, self reflection and role clarification, that were used in tackling concerns relating to boundaries and termination. The study also focused on the way these workers viewed the families with whom they worked.

Coping with pediatric migraine: differences between copers and non-copers
Article Abstract:
A study on pain-coping behaviors of latency-aged children with pediatric migraine shows that copers are optimistic and see themselves as healthy and competent. Cognitive, anticipatory, prevention and resignation coping methods are used to a greater degree by copers than non-copers to deal with pain. Non-copers have negative attitudes, are weak and reluctant to face problems that arise due to migraine.
