A study of group process in relation to treatment outcomes for a stress management intervention is discussed. Topics include psychometric evaluation of the perceived group process inventory, changes in the process across sessions, and the relationships among group-process ratings and outcomes, including depression, stress, physical symptoms, and cardiovascular reactivity to a laboratory stressor.

Anxiety levels, group characteristics, and members' behaviors in the termination stage of support groups for patients recovering from heart attacks

Article Abstract:

Findings on support group research are presented, focusing on the termination of patient participation in the group and the anxiety produced. Conclusions presented include the benefits of identifying behavior patterns, such as ambivalence and resistance, to evaluate the group's effectiveness.
