Article Abstract:
Burlington, Vermont, has decided to construct an advanced fiber network (AFN), which would be supplied first to support the city services. The Burlington government would extend blazingly fast Internet service to business and residences, as it is far cheaper to add customers to one AFN than to build another.

Many telephone users now regard their mobile handset as their primary phone, and in the US, the number of hardwired phone numbers has begun to decrease. In Japan and Europe, wireless subscribers already outnumber wireline subscribers.
