"I remember it well": Paul Bern, Jean Harlow, and the negotiation of information
Article Abstract:
The death of Hollywood producer Paul Bern in 1932 came to be understood by various people in different ways. Those who wrote about the circumstances surrounding his death were mainly concerned with reinforcing an image of him which was most suited to their ideological boundaries. Some observers have concluded that in death he was the victim of a society in which sexuality had gone beyond the boundaries of decency. His life has been interpreted either as an inability to share the frank sexuality of his wife, actress Jean Harlow, or his excessive bestiality in contrast with her innate innocence.

The 'information society' and cultural industries theory
Article Abstract:
The transition to an information society is intimately tied to capitalism and represents an even greater societal integration of industrialization and commodification. The growth of cultural industries, typified by widespread computerization, advanced communication systems, and institutionalized cultural commodification, has simultaneously shaped the political economy of society. Cultural industries theory, the concept of club logic, societal promotion of information services and information products, the role of the state, and other aspects of the information society paradigm are discussed.
