Induced abortion potential among Indian women
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the induced abortion potential among Indian women. Data collected from the National Family Health Survey demonstrate a very low incidence of abortion in India with numbers varying from 3.7% to 10.3% in Madhya Prades and Tamil Nadu, respectively. Results indicate that unwanted and ill-timed births take place mostly for women over 30 years of age. Younger women are expected to have ill-timed pregnancies but they achieve their desired family size as they advance in years.

Pattern of menstrual cycle length in South Indian women: a prospective study
Article Abstract:
Menstrual cycles vary sufficiently that a 28-day norm should not be used to ascertain women's health, as shown by a study of women in south India. Cycle lengths varied under age 25, stabilized until age 39, and then varied. The overall average length was almost 32 days, with over 80% of cycles occurring between 25 and 40 days. Use of a 28-day norm could bias evaluations of the health of women in developing countries.
