The possibilities of nature in a postmodern age: the rhetorical tactics of environmental justice groups

Article Abstract:

The issue of environmentalism and the activities of several environmental groups are very evident in the era of postmodernism. Two perceived kinds of environmental groups emerged as an effect of the contested ideology regarding nature conservation: the mainstream environmental groups and the advent of the grassroots environmental advocates. Mainstream environmental groups utilize the concept of strategy in tackling environmental issues while the grassroot groups rely more on the concept of tactic in their fight against global industrialism and its detrimental effects on the environment. The latter groups depend on citizen participation in their advocacy.

Late modernity and the dynamics of quasification: the case of the themed restaurant

Article Abstract:

Themed restaurants are economically and culturally accessible to a wide selection of the population, making them populist. Themed restaurants are those developed around a series of distinctive signs that have little to do with the act of eating, and are a relatively recent phenomenon. Such restaurants are part of a larger, increasing tendency to create themed leisure environments.
