Multiple modernities or varieties of modernity?
Article Abstract:
The concept of multiple modernities that has been gaining ground in sociology is rejected as it is both conceptually flawed and empirically unfounded and an alternative concept that of varieties of modernity is proposed. The varieties of modernity approach, which follows the varieties of capitalism paradigm, should be much broader and more comprehensive and thus the very consideration of its methodological prerequisites yield valuable insights for students of modernity.

Models of health care rationing
Article Abstract:
The models of health care rationing found in Germany, Oregon in the United States and Singapore are examined and an attempt is made to increase the awareness of alternatives in the field of rationing policies, which go beyond implicit and explicit dichotomy. The study shows that no system is perfect or completely satisfactory and the best features of all the models could be combined for developing a policy design that could be satisfactory in all the aspects.
