Narratives of the body and history; illness in judgemehnt on the Soviet past
Article Abstract:
The practice in Russia's past history of classifying the group of the politically discontended as mentally ill is discussed, a practice which was politically unsuccessful. State-perpetrated violence is described, and individual ills are connected to a shared history and the whole people's suffering. The life story of a Latvian countrywomanh is offered to the history of these practices.

Treatment decision-making during the early stages of heart attack: a case for the role of body and self in influencing delays

Most people experiencing early symptoms of impending heart attack tend to ignore them, a delay that often compromises therapeutic efforts. Decision about seeking medical help in this context has been found to have five stages, with body and self experienced differently at each stage.
