Healthy children in families affected by AIDS: epidemiological and psychosocial considerations
Article Abstract:
The non-infected children from families with AIDS are at a greater risk for poor development as a result of various psychosocial consequences which are attached to AIDS. Children from such families are often confronted by issues such as social stigma, isolation, abandonment and death. They also suffer due to decline in family resources. Social workers can identify and help these children according to their developmental stage to prevent second morbidity that has arisen from AIDS.
