Question Everything? The Social Production of Knowledge
Article Abstract:
Richard F. Hamilton's book, 'The Social Misconstruction of Reality,' shows that there is very little evidence to support Protestant ethic, Foucault's proposal on panopticons and the lower-middle class' support for Hitler. He also disagreed with the 'Weber thesis,' arguing that the data used were not objective and had errors in calculation and used questionable sampling procedure. By analyzing ecological data from national elections held in 831 German counties from 1919 to 1933, he found that Nazi votes were greater in higher social classes, Protestant communities and smaller communities.

To covary or not to covary: what is the question?
Article Abstract:
Important advances have been made in defining the methodological issues that affect fetal drug exposure research. These issues include the application of complex statistical methods to improve scientific rigor, the assessment of examiner bias, the control of confounding variables, the adoption of the tetralogy model in neurotoxicity testing, and the use of multiple indicators of exposure. While some of these provocative issues may not be resolved soon, they do have serious repercussions and profound policy implications.
