Schedule interactions involving punishment with pigeons and humans

Article Abstract:

Experimentation with pigeons and human subjects on conditions conducive to punishment contrast and punishment induction suggests that both occurred when reinforcement and punishment intensity were constant. Punishment contrast occurred only when discriminative stimuli was correlated with punishment although response rates did not revert to pre-punishment levels when punishment was discontinued. Results suggest that prior history, individual differences, manner of punishment introduction, and stimulus factors may determine punishment effects.

Effects of spatial rearrangement of object components on picture recognition in pigeons

Article Abstract:

Pigeons trained to discriminate among line drawings of different objects, and presented with spatial rearrangements of those objects, show sensitivity to the composition of drawings. They display varied generalization decrement to different scrambled drawings of objects. Cluster analysis shows that though the birds produce different clusters for an object, they rank different scramblings of an object similarly. This suggests that they primarily attend to common features of the drawing.

Stimulus control in the use of landmarks by Pigeons in a touch-screen task

Article Abstract:

Experimental testing of pigeons in a search task on the surface of a monitor shows that individuals exhibit preferential and differing stimulus control in the search task. Three distinct patterns of cue control include the control by landmark and its removal, that by shifting of the landmark and that by the frame.
