Setting priorities in aging populations: formal service use among Mexican American female elders
Article Abstract:
Aged Mexican American women and care services available to them are discussed. Regression Analysis shows that those who have "functional impairment of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living" and who get minimal family assistance are most likely to avail of formal in-home services while those who are living alone and who feel the need for more social integration are apt to avail of senior service centers. To prepare for the predicted population growth of said age group, improvement of current in-home and senior center services is needed and greater family assistance encouraged.
