Small training firms: a breeding ground for self-employment?
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates the role of vocational training on self-employment, finding that training firm size has an influence; those who received training in small firms were more likely to chose self-employment than were those who were trained in larger firms. The authors conclude that this is due to knowledge imparted by small firms, their choice of different career prospects and the cost of mobility associated with training by different sized firms; the skills developed in small firms are more applicable to self-employment.
